Kathy Nicholson's New Radio Show

For you who have never met Kathy, she is an inspiring speaker, gifted musician/vocalist, and role model for women. Kathy has worked in practically every area of Christian Ministry. Combining Threads of comedy and reality she addresses issues facing today's woman. Sharing her extraordinary life experiences and lessons she's learned along the way, her can-do attitude has earned her the reputation for being inspiring, motivational, and memorable.
Kathy is no stranger to adversity. As a teenager she faced a crumbling home life when her parents divorced after 25 years of marriage and 20 years in Christian ministry. After some poor choices Kathy fell victim to the date rape drug and was violated by a gang of men. Following this traumatic event Kathy locked herself away in a prison of hurt and struggled for inner peace.
A series of GOD ORDAINDED events brought Kathy to a point of surrender where she learned to forgive everyone, especially herself. Kathy's journey through those dark times is the basis for the ministry she has today.

This week we honor Riverside Church in Colbert, GA as the WRAF "Church of the Week." The church is pastored by Joe Wood.
Janie nominated her church communicating that; "Riverside is constantly seeking ways to minister to our community. Just within the last year we coordinated a food/clothing/toy drive that distributed a box of food, allowed families to pick from new clothing which had been donated, and collect 3 brand new toys for each child to 350 children (probably 200+ families) right before Christmas 2007. Each week our pastors and staff distribute an average of 5 large boxes of food to families in the community who stop by the church in need of help.
We also teach English as a Second/Other Language (ESOL) each Wednesday night, and provide childcare to those who attend these classes through a Nursery Program or AWANA. We have also organized simple "loving the community" outreaches - one example was we delivered Krispy Kreme donuts to our teachers and faculty of the schools in our community and businesses around the community, and distributed 1000 "ice cold" bottles of water to spectators of the annual Colbert 4th of July parade. We do all of these things in the name of Jesus Christ ... our attempt to be His hands and feet in this world of ours.
We also coordinate/promote usually 2 foreign mission trips annually in addition to our local mission efforts. With our motto, "Loving God, Loving People" we are constantly looking for ways to show everyone around us the love Christ has shown us by showing them love. This effort is not accomplished through a small percentage of the church, but attempted by the majority of the congregation ... to minister in their own personal way, in addition to any that we do as a church. As you can see ... I Love My Church !

Toccoa Falls College Sports Update - October 5, 2008
Soccer
The Lady Eagles played Johnson Bible College and controlled the game from the very beginning. In fact it took the Eagles just 20 seconds to score their first goal. Jessica Khoury in the opening kickoff and with two quick passes Khoury she put in the first goal of the game.
The dominate feature of the game could be seen in the number of shots the Eagles took on goal compared to what Johnson Bible’s attempts. Toccoa Falls had 32 attempts on goal to the 3 taken by Johnson Bible. To keep the score to only 3 goals was due to good play by Johnson’s goalie and near misses by Toccoa. Ashley Jordan for example had three attempts that hit the crossbar and several others had similar experiences. The Eagles appear to be showing signs of an aggressive offensive side to their game. They have always been defensively sound, and if the offense will continue to improve their goal to be in nationals could be realized.
According to Coach Bowman, the play against Johnson Bible seemed to always be in slow motion. Neither team seemed to be able to get on track even though Toccoa Falls was the stronger of the two teams. Yet it was encouraging to see the Eagles control the game, have everyone play and come away with another win. Scoring for the Eagles was Jessica Khoury, Mel Miner and Rachelle Albright.
The record for the Eagles is 4 – 5.
The men played Brevard College to a 4 – 3 loss, as both teams had several runs to score. Brevard got the first goal within seven minutes into the half despite the Eagle’s goalie, Travis Julian’s deflection of the attempt.
The second goal came with 14 minutes left in the half from Brevard giving the Tornado’s a 2 – 0 lead at this point. However, the Eagles scored with less than three minutes left in the half when Jonathan Yang made a lead pass to David Eckman who rolled the shot past the Brevard’s goalie. The scoring was not over as just before the half ended Brevard attempted a score from near midfield that just cleared the out stretched hands of Eagle goalie, Julian. The Tornado’s took a 3 – 1 lead at halftime. Coach Mattison said the last goal by Brevard was as pretty a shot as he has seen. In reviewing the first half the Eagles had more shots on goal than Brevard, 11 to 9, but still did 3 – 1. The offensive advantage in regards to shots on goal for Toccoa Falls would continue in the second half, but the results would be the same as the Eagles could not net their attempts.
The second half started strong for Toccoa Falls as within the first two minutes Jake Warren, who was able make several moves to get open and placed the shot in the lower right corner of the net. Then with less than eight minutes in the game, Eckman made a pass to Warren who was able to hammer the tying goal, with the score new 3 – 3.
Brevard was again on the offense and had another goal before time expired and brought the victory to the host school, 4 – 3. Toccoa Falls had several chances in the game to score as the shots on goal indicate that fact. The Eagles had 23 attempts on goal to the Tornado’s 15.
The Eagles against a tough Warren Wilson squad played their best game of the season. Dominating the Owls with solid defensive play from Eric Bill and Daniel Greenfield, Toccoa Falls out scored the visitors 3 – 0. It was the dominate play of Bill and Greenfield that would assure the Eagles of their win.
According to Coach Mattison, David Eckman had an outstanding game, scoring two of the three goals for the win. Eckman was assisted by another strong performance from Jake Warren who scored the third goal on a penalty kick. Warren in the box was taken down by a Warren Wilson player and awarded the free tick with less than ten minutes on the clock. Eckman scored his goals early in the second half with assists from Warren.
The half time score was 0 – 0, and the three goals for the Eagles came in the second half. The shut out for Toccoa’s goalie, Travis Julian, was his first of the season. The Eagles record is now 4 – 6.
Volleyball
The ladies played host to Johnson Bible College and brought home another victory. The scores were, 25 – 22, 15 – 25, 25 – 22, and 25 – 17, with the Eagles winning the match, 3 - 1.
Johnson tied the sets at one each, but the Eagles went on to win the next two sets win to take the match in 4. Christine Kennedy had another excellent match, leading the team with 14 kills. Close behind Kennedy were Rebekah Bowen and Kayla Peters with 9 kills each. The team had a total of 49 kills for the match.
There were four players with double digit digs with Caroline Johnson having 37, Kennedy with 34, Carol Merritt with 25 and Kaylyn Roedding having 24. Danielle led the team against Johnson with 27 assists, and she leads the team for the season with 334.
The next match was against a tough Spartanburg Methodist team that had defeated the Eagles earlier in the year. However, this time around Toccoa Falls played close to the visitors and during the match played several long rallies. The scores from this match were, 17 – 25, 22 – 25 and 21 – 25.
Leading the team in digs for the match were Caroline Johnson, who leads the team in digs with 300. Christine Kennedy was close behind her with 20. Kennedy also leads the team with 130 kills.
Record for the season for the volleyball team is 8 – 9 record in matches and 25 – 28 in sets.
Golf
The team participated in the Jack Shadwick Invitational and showed some signs of improving. In the first round, Corey Wade put together a round of 75 and placed in the top ten of all those participating. The team total score was 347, an improvement over last week’s match play.
The second round’s team scoring was not as good as the team total was 351. However, a few individuals did improve on the back nine. Patrick Emory’s 39 and Peter Ervin’s 40 were scores these players can build on for the national tourney in a couple of weeks. The tournament was played on Cross Creek Plantation in Seneca, SC and was certainly a challenge for the Eagles.

WRAF Church of the Week - October 6, 2008

Chicopee Baptist Church in Gainesville, GA is the newest WRAF "Church of the Week."

Congratulations to Pastor Phil Carpenter and the entire congregation on the award.
Eleanor wrote and told us; "Our small but growing church has a homey feeling that makes most people feel comfortable and welcome. Our church family is very warm and friendly, with much handshaking, smiling, and laughter exchanged often. The atmosphere is casual and unassuming, offering acceptance to all lifestyles and choices in attire. But, our pastor has been instrumental in developing such a loving, welcoming environment to all who enter the church doors.
Chicopee offers programs for all ages, both separately and as a combined congregation. There is much interaction among the various ages of people, with love and respect expressed equally. We are especially proud of a growing prison ministry, our Celebrate Recovery ministry, an Awana program, and a missions ministry. We have now added a walking/praying ministry on Sunday evenings, in place of a traditional Sunday evening service. This offers both physical and spiritual development to those who participate.
Chicopee Baptist is a praying church and worships according to the word of God as it is written in the Bible. Our pastor's special words that he leads us in saying regularly are: "God is good----all the time!!!!"
Nominate your church today to be the next “WRAF Church of the Week.”
Each Monday we will pick a new congregation to receive this award.
Your church will be sent a certificate honoring their service to the community, links to your churches web site will be placed on myfavoritestation.net and they will receive multiple mentions over 90.9 and 88.5 FM.
Plus your pastor will get free resources from our ministry partners.
In order to be considered for the “WRAF Church of the Week,” you must nominate them online at myfavoritestation.net.
